Embankment seating ready for The Chalkboard's April 14 reopening

The Chalkboard, based in The Key Theatre building on the Embankment, is reopening on April 14 with new outdoor seating for those fine weather days.

Outdoor seating has been set up near the Embankment for Chalkboard customers - but picnic blankets on the grass are welcome too!

With four tables for pre-booking and three that will be offered on a first come first served basis, afternoon teas are back on for the restaurant. To adhere to Covid-19 guidelines, all tables can be enjoyed by groups of up to six or by two households.

Sharing details of the booking process on social media, The Chalkboard team confirmed that each booking would be for a maximum of two hours to ensure that as many people as possible get to enjoy the space.

In the event of bad weather, customers will be offered a takeaway box of the food they ordered. Refunds or alternative booking dates cannot be given, so the Chalkboard team have stressed that those who book a table do so knowing the rainy day contingency plan.

Walk-by take away will be offered, including breakfast, and the restaurant has been approved to serve alcohol from April 14.

Opening hours for The Chalkboard continue to span 10am to 5pm from Wednesday to Sunday, although the team have suggested they may stay open later for drinks and nibbles on those nice summer evenings.

On social media, Hannah, Andy and the rest of the team said: "This is, yet again, a brand new way for us to operate. We appreciate your kindness and patience during this time. We really do have the loveliest customers.

"We look forward to the day when guidelines and restrictions can be lifted."
