Coronavirus: Further closures and cancellations announced

Cancellations and closures continue to be announced across the city as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.

Showcase Cinema de Lux Peterborough closed its doors yesterday. Any refunds can be given by contacting the cinema on 01733 555636.

PE1's Sunday car boot sales have been cancelled until further notice.

Nene Park will remain open, but the programme of events on offer will be cancelled until the end of May.

The Great British Spring Clean has been rescheduled for September, with all volunteers who promised to join in being asked to change their planned pick-ups for the fortnight of September 11 to 27.

The technology session for seniors at Cherry Lane garden centre has been cancelled, but is set to be rescheduled - details to come as soon as possible.

Jumped Up Theatre's Body and Soul sessions are being postponed - but organisers are working hard to be able to deliver them online.

Peterborough Civic Society has decided to suspend all social activity until further notice. This includes their monthly meetings, the planned summer visits and the committee meetings for April and May. The committee will, however, continue to undertake activity like monitoring planning applications.

The Cresset has suspended all performances until April 26, and the New Theatre has cancelled all shows for the next four weeks.

Vivacity's gyms and leisure facilities are currently open, but they are operating a reduced fitness class timetable.

Vivacity's libraries are also open, but regular social activities such as the weekend code club for children and the job clubs will be affected.

Peterborough Town Sports Club has ceased all formal coaching, training and tournaments for both hockey and squash. The management council of the club are still waiting to hear from the Lawn Tennis Association about the advice regarding tennis, but state in their update to members that tennis is also likely to be suspended. The club is currently remaining open for members who wish to come and use the spaces for private bookings or without formal coaching.

Yaxley Festival has been postponed and all Yaxley Parish Council facilities have been closed to the public. This includes the Pensioners Afternoon Tea on May 8, but the council are hoping to reschedule that for a later date.

The Chalkboard restaurant has been closed, and anyone who has tickets for their regular Drag Queen Bingo event should request a refund through Eventbrite. Anyone who has a baby shower booked can request their deposit refund via email
