Last month, Burghley House had confirmed, the Spring Fine Food Market was set to take place on Saturday and Sunday, April 17 and 18, in a Covid-safe manner.
This was following the government’s announcement, giving the green light for non-essential retail and outdoor hospitality to resume services from April 12.
It had posted an update on its website, informing visitors of the market, confirming that it will be a ticketed event, with the tickets expected to go on sale from April 5.
The organisers had said this is so that they can monitor visitor numbers to maintain the social distancing rules for everyone's safety.
However, it has now been confirmed, that the market is no longer going ahead.
On social media, Burghley House confirmed the news and said this is due to government guidance in relation to ticketed events.
“After updated Government guidance in relation to ticketed events and food markets, it is with regret that our Spring Fine Food Market has been cancelled on Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th April 2021.
“As much as this is disappointing news for all of us, we will now start planning for our Summer Fine Food Market in August which we cannot wait to welcome you all back to.
“Thank you for your continued support and patience.”
The market is expected to be back in summer between August 28 and August 31, if guidelines allow.
