Octagon Medical Practice manages several surgeries in Peterborough including Park Medical surgery, Thomas Walker centre, Bretton surgery and Eye and Thorney surgery among others.

They are starting the coronavirus vaccine roll-out from the surgeries from Thursday, January 14, for the over 80’s and they are inviting volunteers to assist with the administration of the jabs.

The surgery also manages practices in Fenland and started the administration of the vaccine earlier in the week. On social media, the staff said they received an overwhelming response from people offering to volunteer.

On Wednesday, the surgery posted another appeal, inviting people to volunteer between January 15 and January 17 at one of their Petebrorough surgeries. The volunteers will help the staff with traffic management, patient support and car parking.

In a statement, Octagon Medical Practice said: "We are now starting to roll-out the vaccinations for Peterborough Practices and are looking for any volunteers to work 8am to 2pm or 2pm to 8pm on Friday, January, 15, Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 this week at the Thomas Walker centre in town (PE1 2QP)..

"If you have availability can you please email with your availability against the dates and times above and we will send out a volunteer pack and rota. Duties will include car parking, traffic management and general patient support.

"We will pay expenses and provide PPE etc as needed. Any support would be greatly appreciated."
