In the update, the theatre said: "During these challenging times, the safety of our customers, teams and visiting companies remains our top priority. While we work with industry and government bodies to find a safe way to operate, we have been forced to make the difficult decision to remain closed beyond our original planned date.

"We are working with the producers of all affected performances between now and 19th November with plans to reschedule as many shows as possible."

New dates have already been found for:

  • Someone Like You, rescheduled to Friday July 23, 2021
  • George Hinchcliffe’s Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain, rescheduled to Sunday March 25, 2021
  • UK Pink Floyd Experience, rescheduled to Thursday, January 21, 2021

All ticket holders will be contacted with options to either change their tickets to the new performance date, add credit to see another show at the New Theatre, or get a refund. The box office is not open for customers to contact the theatre directly.

The theatre expressed gratitude to all customers who have so far donated their ticket money to the continued running of the theatre during these uncertain times.

Plans are still going ahead for the pantomime at the end of the year, with hopes that theatres will be safe to open again for the winter season.
