Two Peterborough taxi firms offer free rides to people going for their Covid jab appointments

If you are struggling to get to and from your vaccine appointment, Cambridgeshire County Council have agreed to pay for your taxi journey as part of a new ‘Vaxi-taxi’ scheme.

Nearly 20 taxi companies across the county have come forward to take part in this scheme and help people get to their Covid-19 Vaccination appointment including Uniqcars ( 07454331125) and Heer Private Hire (07872829297) from Peterborough.

All you need to do is to contact the relevant taxi service within your area and give them a call to book your transport.

They will ask you to confirm details of the appointment when you book your journey.  You can make arrangements for them to drop you off and pick you up (but the return journey must start within one hour of your appointment time).

All children need to be accompanied by their parent/carer during the journey and at the vaccination site.

Please ensure you have booked your appointment or if it is a walk-in clinic you know the date/time is correct at your nearest centre first before you book your transport.

You can book your Covid-19 vaccination appointments online or by calling 119.
