CCTV appeal for man who assaulted Stanground shopkeeper

These CCTV images have been released after a shopkeeper was assaulted and robbed in Stanground, Peterborough.

The victim, aged in his 50s, was stacking shelves at First Stop, in South Street at about 6.40pm on Friday (July 23), when two men entered. 

It’s believed one grabbed the victim and pushed him back into shelves, while the other went behind the counter and grabbed bottles of spirits and scratch cards before both ran off. 

The shopkeeper gave chase and the bottles of alcohol were dropped and smashed on the floor. One robber put his hand around the victim’s neck and threatened to return and smash the shop windows. 

Both ran off again and police were called.
