A Peterborough man is to stand trial on two charges of possession of class A drugs with intent to supply.

Gerson Sousa, 21, is accused of having crack cocaine and diamorphine in Cambridge on September 20, 2019.

He appeared before Peterborough Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

Sousa, of London Road, pleaded not guilty to the charges and District Judge Ken Sheraton declined jurisdiction.

The case was adjourned to Cambridge Crown Court on November 8 and Sousa was granted unconditional bail to that date.

A man has been remanded into custody accused of starting a fire at a city home last Saturday.

Andrew Pennington, 43, appeared before Peterborough Magistrates’ Court on Monday charged with arson with intent to endanger life or reckless as to whether life was endangered.

It follows at a fire at a property in Coleridge Road in Cambridge.

There was no indication of plea and no bail application.

Pennington, of no fixed address, will next appear before Cambridge Crown Court on November 8.
