Man in court for racially abusing police officer

A 37-year-old man from Peterborough has been arrested for assaulting and racially abusing a police officer.

Muhammed Ali was arrested in Cambridge Avenue, Peterborough, on Friday night (September 18) on suspicion of harassment, assault, making threats to kill and making racially abusive comments towards a police officer. 

He has since been charged with racially-aggravated abuse, using threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour with intent to cause harassment, alarm or distress, and two counts of breaching a restraining order. 

Ali, of All Saints Road in Peterborough, has been remanded in custody to appear at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court today, September 21.
