Figures obtained from the Police Data website show there were 1,953 reports made in May. This is a 1.2% increase from April's statistics, when 1,929 crimes were reported in the Peterborough area.

Lockdown was still in place across much of May, although restrictions were eased slightly, mostly for socialising with people in different households, as the month went on.

Reports of antisocial behaviour fell from 532 to 441, a decrease of 17.1%. The number of burglary and robbery reports increased by 17.2%.

Vehicle crime decreased by 16.3%, with 92 reports compared to 110 last month. However, reported violence and sexual offences increased by 16.3%, with 670 reports compared to 576 the month prior.

A spokesperson from Cambridgeshire Constabulary said: "There are a number of reasons we tend to see changes in crime trends. These include targeted police activity to drive down offences or increase reporting, or changes in the way in which crimes are recorded.

"Over the past couple of years we have made it even easier for people to report crime, through the introduction of online reporting and web chat facilities enabling people to report crime at a time convenient to them.

"Despite being in lockdown, we have continued to encourage victims to report crime to us and officers are working hard to ensure all incidents are responded to promptly, whilst also ensuring members of the public adhere to government guidelines.

"We continue our efforts to ensure that we protect the most vulnerable members of our community, while tackling our most dangerous offenders."

Outcomes such as charges and arrests are not included on this map.
