Gallery: Black Friday protests at Amazon from Extinction Rebellion

Extinction Rebellion protestors are using Black Friday to protest at the Amazon Warehouse in Peterborough and across the UK.

The climate change campaigners have set up structures to elevate themselves outside the giant warehouse in Flaxley Road in Stanground, with signs stating they want society to 'Make Amazon Pay'

The Fulfilment Centre site was blocked by the protestors, with other protests in 13 sites in Doncaster, Darlington, Newcastle, Coventry and more locations across the country.

An XR spokesperson said: “The action is intended to draw attention to Amazon’s exploitative and environmentally destructive business practices, disregard for workers’ rights in the name of company profits, as well as the wastefulness of Black Friday."

Other demonstrations are being held in Europe and the US.

Traffic in the area has been disrupted and a police spokesperson said: "‘Police are on scene at the Amazon warehouse near Stanground where a protest has begun. The protest is currently peaceful and no arrests have been made."
