The Chalkboard Cafe reopens for afternoon tea takeaway

The Chalkboard Cafe, on Riverside Walk, will be reopening for takeaway from June 1.
The Chalkboard, City Centre

After closing their doors for almost three months, they have made the decision to reopen daily from Monday, June 1, in a safe manner.

They will be serving a number of options for collection, including afternoon tea, a luxury picnic and coffee.

For those on the embankment, they are also serving a 'walk by' menu which will include coffees, cold drinks and ice cream.

Sharing the news of the reopening on their Facebook, they wrote: "To shut The Chalkboard and remain closed for nearly three months was a decision we did not take lightly but our main priority was to keep our customers and staff safe, we now feel confident that we can do this.

"Therefore, we will be re-opening The Chalkboard on Monday June 1, every day from 12pm to 5pm. Please rest assured we have a vigilant risk assessment in place and a recent 5 star food hygiene rating.

"We have worked hard on the menu that we will be available and we hope you like it. We will be offering a take away service, collection only. Pre-order at least 24 hours in advance online through our website from our famous ‘Pick your own Afternoon Tea’ and ‘Children’s Afternoon Tea’ perfect for all your celebrations or lockdown treat. Or maybe you fancy a Luxury British or Vegetarian Chalkboard Picnic for 2 to enjoy on the Embankment or to have in the garden at home, these are perfect to pre order for Father’s Day!

"You simply pick your day and time of collection then pay online through our new booking system. We ask people to arrive on time and to stick to the social distancing measures that are in place at the restaurant. There will be clear signs directing you to where to collect your food.

"We will also have a small ‘walk by’ menu if you are enjoying the Embankment this will include coffees, cold drinks and ice creams. We hope to extend this menu in the coming weeks.

"We look forward to seeing you soon, from a safe social distance of course!"
