An ice cream thank you for city hospital staff

NHS staff have been treated to free ice creams in Peterborough today.

An ice cream van was on site at Peterborough City Hospital at around 12pm - and queues were quick to form as staff claimed their free treat.

A pizza stall was also set up near the entrance to the emergency department.

A spokesperson for North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust said: "We are treating our staff across all hospital sites today to a free ice cream as a thank you for their efforts.

"The pizza stall is an added extra where staff can buy a pizza for their lunch if they wish.

"It’s already proving popular with our staff and we hope it gives them a chance to take a break from their roles to grab a treat."

A fruit and vegetable stall was set up outside the hospital last year and remains in place, selling fresh, seasonal produce to staff and patients.
