Cross Keys Homes (CKH) and Youth Dreams Project are coming together to build sports clubs for young people in Peterborough, allowing them the chance to take part in individual and team sports activities. Members themselves will get to decide which activities they'd like to take part in, with qualified coaches on hand to support and encourage them.

The clubs were due to start at Easter at two venues across the city - CKH's South Bretton Family and Community Centre and the Charteris Centre in Welland - but lockdown prevented that.

Chief executive of Cross Keys Homes Claire Higgins said: "After a difficult summer for many young people, where school, social clubs and other activities have been closed for many months, it is great to finally be opening up and giving children the chance to safely meet together and do some fun activities. Many young people have been incredibly isolated during lockdown and so we are doing all we can to make up for this with safe activities, with the excellent, fully qualified coaches from Youth Dreams Project."

Luke Kennedy, founder of Youth Dreams Project added: "It’s great to finally be getting this partnership with CKH up and running. It has been a very frustrating year so far, and we know young people have been struggling with the restrictions they have faced.

"As a team we have worked hard to put in place all the safety precautions we can to be able to get this sports club up and running and give young people the social, mental and physical health benefits we know it will bring to them."

The clubs are free of charge but places are limited and need to be booked in advance. For further information, or to book a place, call Cross Keys Homes on 01733 396404 or email
