The damage at the crossing on London Road towards the A1M has resulted in a temporary traffic light system on the Aqua Drive, Eagle Way and London Road junction.
Various sides of the roads have been closed, resulting in cars needing to drive on the opposite side of the road to make their turn.
Vehicles can still access their route, but there are slight delays.
Councillor John Howard told Peterborough Matters: "This work is being carried out on behalf of O & H Hampton to remedy the damaged barriers at the crossing.
"Eventually there is a view to the crossing being put up for adoption from O & H’s care to the City Council, and we will support the stakeholders as best as possible to see this through."
A spokesman for the Streetworks Team at Peterborough City Council confirmed that the work is due to be completed on April 13.
