Popular Peterborough florist shuts after almost 20 years of trade

Lovelaces Flowers, based at Peterborough's Rivergate Shopping centre, closed its store this weekend after 19 years of trading in the city.
Lovelaces Flowers based at Rivergate centre in Peterborough has announced store closure

Owner Steve Lovelace looked over the family-run business along with his son Jamie and was originally based at the city market for a long time.

After the loss of trade and footfall, following the demolition of the market car park, Steve relocated to Rivergate just over two years ago.

It was believed some of the market traders who were rehoused at Rivergate were offered some initial business rate incentives.

However, last week, the florist shared the news on social media to announce they have decided to shut shop after ‘much consideration’.

Without giving too many details, Steven said, he didn’t think “it was feasible to stay open any longer due to a number of factors.”

The team has thanked their customers who have supported them over the years.

Although, they are wrapping up the store, throughout May, Lovelaces Flowers will have a small stall on Fridays and Saturdays on Lower Bridge Street between the entrance to Rivergate and the court, selling mixed bunches of flowers and are hopeful to see some familiar faces.

The florists will also be taking orders for funeral flowers and bouquets over the phone. You can place your orders on 07971867005.
