It is the latest business to depart from Queensgate after big retailers such as John Lewis, Next and Topshop announced their departures from the city centre shopping mall in the past few months.
Mac Cosmetics, owned by Estee Lauder, a sought-after name among beauty brands, first opened its doors in the centre in 2016.
The branch announced it was closing down after four years of serving the city customers.
In a message for their customers, Mac Peterborough said: “We regret to inform you that this store is now closed.
“Thank you for all support over the years.”
A small Mac pop-up display has appeared a few doors down inside the Queensgate Boots unit although it is believed no staff members have been hired for it yet.
Peterborough Matters contacted Estee Lauder to clarify if a Mac outlet could be on the cards at the Queensgate Boots but the company has yet to respond.
On a more positive note, at least three retailers moved into Queensgate this year including Holland and Barrett, Cards Direct and Watch Hub.
