The school announced that they would be taking part in the breakfast scheme starting Monday, October 19. Queen Katharine Academy confirmed that they had signed up to receive healthy breakfast and would be offering students the option when they enter the school.
Familly Action has closed the deadline for schools to register their interest, but will be providing the programme to 650 schools in the UK.
Schools will be offered breakfast delivery grants and deliveries of healthy food to ensure all children who need it can access breakfast, at home or at school.
The programme is part of a response to Covid-19, in partnership with Magic Breakfast – a national child nutrition charity.
The breakfast option has been launched just a month into students returning to school following months out of education due to the coronavirus pandemic and national lockdown.
Food vouchers were handed out earlier this year at multiple schools across Peterborough to help families struggling during lockdown.
