A three-year-old child was taken to hospital with minor head injuries after being hit by an e-scooter.
The collision happened in Westgate, Peterborough on Saturday (November 18) afternoon.
Police have since issued a warning to remind e-scooter owners that it is illegal to ride them in public unless they are part of a government scheme.
In this case, officers say the parents of the 14-year-old rider were not aware of the current law.
A Cambridgeshire Police spokesperson said: “We were called at 4.23pm on Saturday with reports of a collision involving an e-scooter and a child in Westgate, Peterborough.
“The three-year-old child was taken to hospital for treatment on minor injuries and was released later that day.
“Officers issued words of advice to the 14-year-old boy who was riding the e-scooter and his parents.”
A post on the force’s Facebook page added: “With the festive season fast approaching we’re conscious e-scooters may be on a few Christmas lists.
“Please know the law before buying one.”
