2020 World Buffet is opening in the former Jimmy Spices restaurant

The new buffet restaurant will open in Peterborough on March 19.

Previously both Jimmy Spices and most recently Jimmy's World Grill and Bar, 2020 World Buffet is currently in the midst of renovations.

Paul Sharma, who has previously been operating Gurkha 91, Market Deeping and Bourne and currently operates Gurkha Oven in Spalding and Stamford, has said he's looking forward to the new challenge which will create approximately 30 new jobs.

The partners had looked at numerous sites, but ultimately landed at a location on New Road, which can seat more than 400 guests. However, it'll look different to the predecessors because unlike the open plan restaurant, there will be dividers to create an intimate space. Water features and chandeliers will also surround the restaurant.

They said: "We plan to give people the chance to try street food from Southern Asia, Nepal and the Indian subcontinent and there will be individual stalls around the venue.

"In total, we will be serving six different cuisines and the other food stations will feature teppanyaki – Japanese style food grilled to order by the chef in front of the customers – as well as Chinese and Italian.

The venue will open from 12pm to 10pm daily, meals will come at a fixed price.
