The move will enable visitors at its sites to check-in on arrival by scanning the codes using the NHS contact tracing app which was officially launched by the Government this week.

The newly-formed housebuilder, which is made up of Linden Homes, Bovis Homes and Vistry Partnerships, is encouraging customers to download the app on their smartphones before attending appointments at its sales centres.

The app will alert users if they have visited a venue which is later found to be at the centre of an outbreak of the virus and, if necessary, instruct them to self-isolate.

Nic Chapman, Sales and Marketing Director of Vistry East Midlands, said: “Since the housing market re-opened in May, we have put in a range of measures to keep our customers and staff safe while they are on-site at any of our developments. These measures include one-to-one appointments arranged by telephone to ensure we don’t have multiple households visiting us at any one time.

“Now, with the NHS contact tracing app widely available for use, we are asking our visitors to take the time to scan the individual QR codes located at each of our sales centres to support the effort to curb the spread of the virus and keep all of us safe.”

The NHS contact tracing app was rolled out across England and Wales formally on Thursday, September 24, and is now available to smartphone and android users who can download the app directly by searching ‘NHS Covid-19’.

Anyone over the age of 16 is being asked by the Government to download the app and register their information so they can ‘check-in’ at locations they visit to help control the spread of coronavirus.

The app can instruct users to self-isolate if required, and will alert them of any potential virus outbreak at a venue they have recently visited, as well as offering the opportunity to order tests and receive results of those tests via the app.

Linden Homes and Bovis Homes are currently building new homes across Cambridgeshire, including at Peterborough, Sawtry, Deeping St James, and Barnack, Sutton.
