Peterboroughgiftshop.com is the brainchild of Thorney-based artist Chris Lane and Peterborough Tourism Manager Tracy Snooks, and is perfect for those searching for Peterborough-based gifts online.

Posters, prints, cups, cards, jewellery and crafts are all on sale through the site, with stock currently hosted in the gardens at the splendid Djibo Art run by renowned artist Roland Burt.

The original Visitor Information Centre on Bridge Street closed last year before some works were transferred to the town hall, but the space was not really adequate.

Local artists including Roland, Tony Nero, blacksmith John Downing, street photographer Chris Porsz and glassmaker Brian Withall are among those whose work was on display - items can be ordered online to be posted, purchased on the day, or reserved via click and collect.

Peterborough Matters was invited to the launch day to meet the artists in the sunshine, with accompanying music on the Caribbean Steel Drums from King Don.

Chris said: "Since the shutdown, my company Artinfusion together with Tracy have been looking at other avenues to increase awareness and outlets to offer not only Peterborough products but the great selection of artists Tracy had built up within the Peterborough Visitor Information centre.

"It started with a small selection of left-over VIC stock and has developed from when Tracy ran the VIC shop and used to also sell artist’s work.

"All artists and makers coming on board are focused on all things ‘Peterborough' and the surrounding areas or creating items for the people of the city and our visitors."

The new site will run alongside the existing Visit Peterborough website, www.visitpeterborough.com.
