Restaurant owners did not know when they might reopen, what the “new normal” might look like and indeed for some, whether they would ever open their doors again.
Whilst many eateries have been given a fresh coat of paint inside and out, one restaurateur has demonstrated his commitment to the future of the business with a newly thatched roof.
Andrew Corrick, Chef Patron of The Cherry House at Werrington said: “It has been two decades since the roof was last thatched and we knew time was not going to be a problem in getting the project completed. We are extremely lucky to operate from such a beautiful and historic Grade 11 listed property dating back four hundred years, so it’s important we treat the building with care and respect.
"Equally we wanted to show our determination to get our restaurant back up and running and serving our very loyal customers.”
The work was carried out by Clive Dodson Thatchers of Great Raveley near Huntingdon and took four weeks from start to finish.
