Get the Embe app - Peterborough restaurant makes online ordering easier

Founded in 2009, Embe has settled into new premises (the former Topo Gigio building) after establishing itself as a Peterborough brand in the city market.

Owner and chef Nick Rutta has drawn inspiration from his own background, as well as other parts of Africa and the Caribbean, to bring soul food and soul music to the city.

Lockdown prompted Nick to consider how he could best cater for his customers, but he found that delivery services would take a big portion of his profits in exchange for being featured. Because of that, he started to work on his own app - and it's now available on both Apple's App Store and the Google Play store.

The app is free to download and can be found by searching for Embe Soul Food & Drink. The software allows customers to pre-order food and get a confirmation in real time. Giftcards are also available to purchase.

On the menu is the original street food made when Embe was a market stall, including jambalaya, mac'n'cheese, and chicken stew. Wraps, curry dishes, grill selections and pizza are all on the app to order, and there are plenty of vegan and vegetarian offerings.

Nick said: "I created the app to make ordering online during the lockdowns easier than ever. The app means customers can get the best deals straight from us and not a third party.

"I always want my customers to experience the best, whether they are in their home or dining with us. The menus on the app are regularly updated to keep the flavours fresh and exciting for everyone."
