Al's - named after its two chefs, Aaron and Liam - was born when lockdown boredom set in and the dream of running an independent food business felt more possible than ever.

Aaron and Liam met 15 years ago, working as chefs in Peterborough, and have been an inseparable duo ever since. In 2014, both men travelled to Australia to work in fine dining establishments - and then spent two years honing their culinary skills around the world.

Since returning to Peterborough, the duo have wanted to open up their own food business, but it had never felt possible until lockdown gave them time to put a business plan together.

Their background may be in fine dining, but street food and BBQ was where their hearts lay - so Al's BBQ Streetfood is a mix of both.

Speaking to Peterborough Matters, the team said: "We pride ourselves on everything we put into each dish, as we don't want to become 'just another take away'.

"We make all of our dishes in house using fresh local ingredients - the meats we use are from award winning butchers, our signature breads made from the local bakery, all of our rubs, seasonings and house sauces are homemade. We're all about freshness and flavour with choice and our menu reflects that.

"Once a week we'll be running super specials, bringing in some amazing street food from around the world along with specialty cuts of meats to go into our in-house smoker.

"We also have a dedicated events catering team ready for when things can return to normal!"

Open from Wednesday to Sunday from 4pm to 10pm - currently available for delivery only due to Covid-19 guidance - the team is based at the former greyhound stadium.
