This is the first time these awards have been held, and they showcase make-up artists, aestheticians, hair and beauty teams and salons.

The competitors were nominated anonymously, and one winner was chosen for a each region across the country.

The main awards night event was scheduled to be held in Birmingham on April 1, however, it had to be cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak. The winners were announced online instead.

Sharing the news with Peterborough Matters, Feroza said: “It is so exciting. I have been working for over five years now. When I got the call to say I was nominated, I couldn’t believe it. I don’t even know who nominated me for the award. Then, later I got the call to say I won - that just made me so happy!

“It just feels nice to know you and your work is appreciated. Also, amidst all the negativity and tough times right now, this positive news really cheered me up."

Like other businesses, Feroza has had to temporarily suspend her services. She is, however, keeping herself busy with online tutorials.

Feroza said: “I am doing lots of make-up tutorials and online videos with tips for my viewers. I am experimenting with different make-up looks and hairstyles to keep myself busy, and also for viewers who might be interested to learn new things. They are becoming popular. More people are getting interested.

“I had bookings for this period, but I have either cancelled them with refunds or re-scheduled them. Although I am not yet taking any more bookings because there is so much uncertainty."
