While pubs and restaurants are shut down for the duration of the UK lockdown, there are many Peterborough musicians who are missing their open mic night opportunities.

The staff at the Queen's Head, on Queen Street, have come up with a way to keep the performances happening - through social media.

Participants are invited to record one song or performance and upload it to their Facebook page, alongside a description of who you are, where you are and any other "messages of love you want to share". These can then be watched and enjoyed by Facebook users, and anyone watching is asked to show their support in comments - or even a video of their own.

The first session took place on Thursday, April 2, and included regular performers as well as some new faces. Angela Ennis, general manager of the Queen's Head, opened proceedings, making sure to start the night in style.

There was, of course, a short break in proceedings at 8pm when everyone involved took the opportunity to clap for the keyworkers and carers of the country, and then the music was back again.

All the performances from last night, as well as next week's "Closed Mic Night" event, can be found on their Facebook page here: facebook.com/queensheadPPP/
