The free bus rides are part of the 2021 Fenland BusFest.

Vehicles both privately owned and from local operators will taking part. They are set to include a classic London Transport AEC RT from the 1950s and from Stagecoach East, a 2019 BYD/ Alexander Dennis electric double-decker.

Based in Whittlesey and taking place from 10am-5pm, services will run every 20 minutes to Peterborough Bus Station, and half hourly to Thorney, Turves and Yaxley.

There’s also a run to Ramsey every 20 minutes, calling at the Fenland Light Railway, which is open especially for the event - tickets can be booked in advance here.

Operators including Delaine, Dews and WH Fowler are supporting the event.

Organisers spokesman Nick Larkin said: 'We were so sorry not to be able to run BusFest last year and so many people got in touch to say how much they had missed the event. We are proud to bring BusFest 2021 for the people of Fenland and beyond to enjoy.'

BusFest is organised by the Cambridgeshire-based Eastern Bus Enthusiasts group, which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year The group now has a collection of around 30 classic buses, many with local connections. New members are always welcome.
