Neighbourhood watch creates safer communities, says Peterborough team

An active neighbourhood watch scheme is about preventing crime in the area, but also protecting vulnerable or elderly neighbours. Communication is vital for success, because just keeping in contact with neighbours means being able to recognise when something is suspicious and needs the services of the police.

Some watch schemes build up social networks and meet regularly but some don't - there is no correct approach other than a mindful and communicative one.
