With the Covid vaccine programme falling behind in Peterborough, local health leaders are putting on more walk-in events - where appointments aren't required and a face covering is all you need to bring.

The times, dates and locations for the next seven days are:

Friday August 6, 12pm to 3pm: Faizan E Madina Mosque
Friday August 6, 4pm to 7pm: Gladstone Park Community Centre
Tuesday August 10, 5.30pm to 7.30pm: City Care Centre
Thursday August 12, 5.30pm to 7.30pm: East of England Showground

Daily, 9am to 3pm: City Care Centre
Daily, 9am to 3pm: East of England Showground

Those who had the first dose of a vaccine eight weeks ago are now eligible for their second dose and can attend any of the clinics to receive it.

Appointments can also be booked at City Care Centre, East of England Showground, Halls the Chemist and Boots Queensgate.

Jyoti Atri, director of public health for Peterborough and Cambridgeshire, is encouraging residents of the city to #dotherightthing and get vaccinated.

On the reasons that Peterborough is lagging behind in the vaccine rollout, Jyoti said: “There are probably a lot of reasons for this, mainly in the demographic where the population is younger than the rest of the average for England.

“It is vital, however, we all have two doses of the vaccine – it will protect us from going to hospital.

“And by maintaining those protective behaviours we have become accustomed to, will delay or flatten the disease curve.”
