Mantas Bagdanavicius, 29, was more than twice the legal alcohol limit when his Audi Q5 left Fulbridge Road in Werrington.

At Peterborough Magistrates’ Court on Monday (July 19), prosecutor Peace Egbulefu said: “Officers attended the scene and identified three vehicles involved in the collision.

“A black Audi, according to reports, had left the road at speed, hitting a tree. The other two cars took avoiding action and collided with each other.”

Bagdanavicius was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after giving a roadside sample of 111 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath, more than three times the legal limit of 35.

In custody he blew an evidential sample of 92 microgrammes.

The defendant, of Heyford Close, pleaded guilty to drink-driving on June 26.

Kashif Khan, mitigating, said: “Everything is accepted but one minor point – the number of vehicles involved in the accident.

“Mr Bagdanavicius makes it quite clear to me that there was only one other vehicle involved. The other was there to assist.

“I don’t have much to say about the offence itself. He made full and frank admissions in interview.

“The ban is likely to impact his ability to continue as a construction worker.”

Bagdanavicius was disqualified from driving for two years, which can be reduced by 24 weeks with completion of a drink-driver rehabilitation course.

He was also told to do 80 hours’ unpaid work and ordered to pay £200 in costs and victim surcharge.
