The new site is being set up next to Gladstone Park Community Centre, which was one of the locations of the temporary mobile sites that were open during the summer.

The testing centre is to be in place for at least the next three months, open seven days a week from 8am to 8pm. Hours are reduced for the first two days of opening, however, as procedures are put properly into place.

Today, October 14, the centre will be open from 2pm until 5pm. Tomorrow, October 14, opening hours are 10am until 5pm.

Paul Bristow, MP for Peterborough, said: "The temporary mobile sites in our city proved popular so I made it a priority to get something permanent for Peterborough. We have done the right thing and our rates are low. More tests may increase rates a bit but we wil only get on top of this with the right response and making sure local people who need a test can get one is part of this."

People with symptoms of coronavirus – a high temperature, a new, continuous cough or a loss or change to sense of taste or smell – should seek to book a test by visiting the government website or calling 119.
