We asked the crew at the Chalkboard to provide us with a perfect pancake recipe to celebrate Pancake Day 2020 and they've risen to the challenge.

They'll be serving up shareable pancake chalkboards on Tuesday with a range of toppings to choose from. Enjoy them with maple syrup for breakfast, ham and cheese and bacon for lunch, and chocolate and strawberries for dessert - they're the ultimate food all-rounder.

Chalkboard210220Ingredients
140g self-raising flour
25g caster sugar
1 egg
150ml milk
pinch of bicarbonate of soda
pinch of salt

STEP ONE
Sift the flour, a small pinch of salt and a small pinch of bicarbonate of soda. Mix together and then add the sugar.

STEP TWO
Beat milk and egg together and add to the dry ingredients. Pour and stir in slowly to avoid lumps.

STEP THREE
Use a ladle to pour smooth mixture into a non-stick frying pan, or use a small knob of butter to stop it sticking. When bubbles appear (usually between one and two minutes cooking time) flip it and cook the other side!

STEP FOUR
Slide onto a plate (or chalkboard) and voila. Hey, we can't be in charge of the toppings too! Those are all entirely up to you.
