Justina Miklovaite was two-and-a-half times the legal alcohol limit when she was stopped on the A47.

She almost hit an unmarked police car head-on in Ivatt Way, Peterborough Magistrates’ Court was told on Monday (July 19).

She was swerving in the road and did not indicate at a roundabout, said prosecutor Peace Egbulefu.

Miklovaite was then pulled over at Rhubarb Bridge slip road.

“In the rear was a male believed to be her partner with a child not secured despite there being a child seat in the front. This was being used to store the defendant’s handbag,” said Ms Egbulefu.

Miklovaite, of Eastern Close, was arrested after failing a roadside breath test. She later gave an evidential sample of 87 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, the legal limit being 35.

The 31-year-old pleaded guilty to drink-driving and driving with a passenger under three years old seated in the rear not wearing a seat belt. The offences were on June 26 this year.

Kashif Khan, mitigating, told the bench: “This is by far one of the most serious offences in terms of excess alcohol today.

“I have been absolutely honest with my client, despite the starting point being a financial penalty, that there are a number of aggravating features.”

He said the ban would mean she could no longer continue with her job at a local Audi garage.

The case was adjourned to July 28 for a pre-sentence report.

An interim driving disqualification was imposed and Miklovaite was granted unconditional bail to the next hearing.
