Residents of a Peterborough care home have spent Armistice Day remembering fallen members of the armed forces and reading personalised cards.

The residents of Hampton Grove Care Home donned their poppies and watched the live televised service at the Cenotaph in London on Friday, September 11.

Soon after, the residents opened some letters they had received earlier that same morning.

The letters came from the 17th Paton Guides, the 10th Paston Brownies and the 3rd Paston Rainbows.

The children each wrote out a letter to the care home that contained personalised messages of remembrance written inside of them.

The cards were decorated with hand drawn and hand painted poppies on the covers.

The residents have since decorated the home with them, placing them wherever they could find a space on the mantel piece for everyone to see.
