A dedicated school governor from Stanground is retiring after 32 years of serving across seven Peterborough schools under 12 headteachers.

Trevor Pearce began his career at Thorpe Infants and Juniors in 1989 when his daughter Helen was in first-year infants.

During his 10 years at the school, Pearce saw the primary school evolve and become part of Peterborough Keys Academies Trust (PKAT) while holding the post of chair of premises committee.

He then moved to Parnwell Primary School under Nick Guest as his successor, where he was vice-chair of the governing body until he resigned in 2010 following a heart attack.

In 1997 he had a career change and worked at Walton Infant and Junior Schools, subsequently Discovery Primary working with the governors as a staff representative.

In 2012, Nick Guest, who had moved to be head of Thorpe Primary School persuaded Trevor to return to the governing body where he returned to head up the Premises team.

Emma Anderson, headteacher of Thorpe Primary School, part of Peterborough Keys Academies Trust wished Pearce well for the future while “thanking him for his commitment to the school”.

During his time, Trevor was involved in more than 100 school trips and accompanied Year 8 on eight-day residential stays on six occasions.

Trevor said he “enjoyed his time as governor”, while endorsing it as a great career option.

He will continue his support for Thorpe Primary School in Netherton, assisting teachers on school trips.

He now hopes to focus on his role as chair of the Peterborough Local History Society.

He said: "I am going to be spending more time focusing on this role. It back into schools, as a guest speaker to talk about the history of Peterborough and showing them images of a Peterborough long since gone.”
