A man has been handed a prison sentence after he was caught selling crack cocaine across Peterborough.

Mihlali Jekwa, 27, was jailed for two years four months at Peterborough Crown Court after previously admitting to supplying the drug.

He was arrested on May 16 in Alma Road, Millfield, as part of Cambridgeshire Police’s dedicated operation into county lines drug dealing and exploitation.

Operation Tsunami has involved months of intelligence gathering.

An enforcement phase in May has seen 48 people arrested, with 19 of those charged with 83 drug offences.

So far, five people have been sentenced to a total of more than 14 years in prison.

Jekwa, of Hedgelands, Werrington, is the latest to be sentenced and appeared in court on Thursday, August 17.

He had previous convictions for drug offences and was out of prison on licence for armed robbery when he was caught drug dealing.

Det Con Tom Corbett, who investigated, said: “This operation has been many months of hard work, crossing different departments from intelligence and organised crime to neighbourhood policing.

“We are relentless in our approach to taking out these lines and the people running them who pose a significant risk to some of the most vulnerable people in our communities, including children...”
