A man has been arrested on following a break-in at a bank in Peterborough this morning.

Police were called at 6.30am today (Wednesday March 6) with reports someone was causing damage to the front of Barclays Bank in Church Street.

Officers attended and a 42-year-old man from Peterborough was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, possession of an offensive weapon and burglary.

"He remains in custody,” said a spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Constabulary.
