A Cambridgeshire woman once too afraid to leave her house due to anxiety is to compete in the final of Miss Teen Great Britain 2024.

Emma Gosling, who recently won the title of Miss Teen Cambridgeshire, saw off hundreds of competitors from across the country.

The 19-year-old from Cottenham said: “As an autistic girl who was too afraid to leave my house five years ago because of anxiety, I’m surprised at myself for even entering the competition.

“But I don’t want to miss out on fun opportunities anymore. I want to use my title to advocate for other autistic girls and teens suffering from severe anxiety, as well as other causes that I’m passionate about such as the environment.”

The grand final of Miss Teen Great Britain - which will include a 'beauty queen challenge' day and a pyjama diva party - will be held on October 13 at The Globe Theatre in Blackpool.

The prizes at the final include a cash prize, dresses from The Dress Studio, a sparkling sash and crown.

The 19-year-old from Cottenham added: “I am so excited to have made it to the final.

“It is a great confidence booster and I’m really grateful to have gotten this far!”
