A seven-month-old baby has died in hospital following a late-night collision on the A1 in Lincolnshire.
One vehicle is believed to have been involved in the incident and a woman also travelling in the same car suffered serious injuries.
Two others travelling in the vehicle were not seriously injured.
Lincolnshire Police have now launched an investigation into the incident, which happened on the key route that also passes through Cambridgeshire.
The emergency services were called at around 10:50pm last night (January 2) to reports that a yellow Honda Jazz had left the road.
It was on the southbound carriageway around 500 yards from the Spittlegate junction, near Grantham.
The car had collided with a tree and ended up back on the carriageway. No other vehicles are understood to have been involved.
Lincolnshire Police say the family is currently being supported by specially-trained officers.
The road was closed in both directions while emergency services were at the scene and the southbound carriageway remains closed by Highways while investigative work is carried out along the roadside.

A Lincolnshire Police spokesperson said: “We are now investigating the cause of the collision, and while we are keeping an open mind, we are considering whether this was linked to icy conditions on the carriageway in that area.
“We are asking for help from anyone who may have been driving in that area over the past few days to get in touch with information or dashcam they may have which show conditions over the past few days.
“We would also been keen to view any footage of the collision itself and ask that anyone who was traveling that in that area who we have not yet spoken with to get in touch.”
