An inquest has been opened into the death of a 67-year-old woman who was found at an address in Peterborough.
Police said Carmen Coulson was found at her home in Lingwood Park, Longthorpe, following a report of violence at the property.
A paramedic confirmed the death at around 3am.
Her son Gregory Coulson, 30, of Lingwood Park, Peterborough, was later charged with her murder.
An inquest was opened into Ms Coulson’s death yesterday (Thursday) at Peterborough Town Hall.
Simon Milburn, an area coroner for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, explained the current cause of death is being given as a stab wound through the heart.
He said: “Int he circumstances, it is likely this inquest will be formally suspended in due course pending the outcome of ongoing police investigations.”
In a statement released through police after the incident, her family said: "We are deeply saddened at the loss of Carmen, our mother, sibling, friend and colleague.”
