Bus services on Lincoln Road in Peterborough will face long-term diversions starting Tuesday, April 22, 2025, due to major roadworks as part of the Lincoln Road Regeneration Project.
The project, led by Peterborough City Council, is expected to last up to 12 months and will result in the closure of several key bus stops.
Stagecoach East has confirmed that services 1, operating between Werrington and Queensgate, and 62, running from Maxey to Queensgate, will be affected.
These services will no longer serve stops between Searjeant Street and Alma Road during the project.
Instead, buses will be diverted from Lincoln Road Triangle via Bourges Boulevard and Taverners Road before rejoining their regular routes.
As a result of the diversion, three busy bus stops will be temporarily closed.
These include Occupation Road, Peterborough Depot, and Cambridge Avenue. Stagecoach acknowledges the significance of these stops and has expressed its regret over the disruption.
The company has confirmed that it has shared customer concerns with the council but stated that the closures are unavoidable under the current construction plans.
To assist passengers, Stagecoach advises that the nearest alternative boarding point is Norfolk Street.
Customers who usually use the affected stops should use Norfolk Street for boarding and alighting until further notice.
The operator has pledged ongoing collaboration with the city council and contractors throughout the regeneration project to minimise disruption.
Apologies have been issued in advance for any inconvenience caused, including potential delays.
