Nene Valley Railway and Amey have launched a new project named Project Octopussy.
The partnership marks the bicentenary of UK railways and aims to restore an old carriage to support larger events and enhance operational efficiency.
Project Octopussy, named after the James Bond film partly shot at Nene Valley in 1982, has seen around 70 volunteers from Amey and their supply chain contributing to the restoration work.
More than 30 rail companies have offered their support, with the refurbished carriage set to be revealed at a Speedy Hire event in November.
This collaboration not only celebrates the history of railways but also looks towards the future.
Amey and Nene Valley Railway are keen to inspire the younger generation to consider careers in rail.
To this end, they have organised two "Invent Your Future" events over the summer.
The first is on August 7 and the second on August 28.
These events will showcase a variety of career opportunities within the rail sector.
Major rail employers such as Aaron Rail Ltd, ISS Ltd, and Network Rail will be present, alongside others, to engage with young people.

The events aim to be informative and enjoyable, set in a summer fair atmosphere suitable for families and locals.
The initiative by Nene Valley Railway and Amey is not only a celebration of the past but also a step towards securing the future of the rail industry.
