Two men charged after Peterborough house fire murder

Two men have been charged following the murder of a 59-year-old man in Peterborough.

Police named Zbigniew Wasiak as the victim of a fatal house fire on Wooton Avenue, Fletton, on Wednesday (September 10).

A post-mortem examination, which took place on Wednesday (10 September), concluded Zbigniew, died from a single stab wound to his neck.

Michal Pluciennik, 35, of no fixed abode, and Wojcieck Piaseczny, 35, of Pilton Close, have been remanded in custody.

They will appear at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court today (12 September).

It comes after police arrested a 29-year-old woman and a 39-year-old man, both from Peterborough, on suspicion of murder., on Thursday (September 11)

They have been released on bail to return to Thorpe Wood police station on November 5 and December 3 respectively.

Police were called by the fire service at about 3.35am on September 7 with reports of the fire after a body was discovered.

A joint investigation involving Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service concluded an accelerant was used by a third party to start the fire.
