A thief who stole toys worth hundreds of pounds from TK Maxx in Peterborough has been banned from a shopping centre.

Daniela Dumitru, 23, went to the shop in Queensgate shopping centre on Thursday November 27, where she took toys worth nearly £350 without paying.

She was arrested in Lincoln Road, near the city centre, later the same day.

Dumitru, of Lime Kiln Close, West Town, Peterborough, also twice stole items from Sostrene Grene, in Queensgate, on July 21 and 23.

Two days later she stole a balloon from Cards Direct in the shopping centre.

On Friday November 28, at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court, she was sentenced to ten weeks in prison, suspended for a year, and ordered to complete 150 hours of unpaid work.

She was also given a three-year criminal behaviour order (CBO) preventing her from entering Queensgate.

PC Joe Malton, from the Spree Offender Team, said: “Dumitru repeatedly targeted shops in Queensgate so I hope this CBO will reassure local businesses and help to prevent further thefts.

“We will continue to work with local businesses to identify thieves and bring them before the courts.”

Anyone with information about Dumitru breaching the CBO should contact police online at www.cambs.police.uk/report. Those without internet access should call 101.
