Two teenagers have been seriously injured after a car crashed into three parked vehicles in Peterborough.

Officers and paramedics were called to Sycamore Avenue, in Dogsthorpe, at 5.16pm on Sunday (May 31).

The driver of a blue VW Golf, a 17-year-old boy, and an 18-year-old male passenger, both from Peterborough, were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Firefighters from Dogsthorpe and Stanground were also called to the scene at 5.19pm.

A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Using specialist equipment firefighters released two casualties who were left in the care of ambulance crews.

"The crews returned to their stations by 6.50pm."

Police are now appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage.

Anyone who saw what happened or has footage of the incident, or of the vehicles in the time leading up to it, is asked to contact police via the force website, quoting Op Swindon.

Those without internet access are urged to call the non-emergency number 101.
