Labour has announced its candidate for an upcoming Peterborough City Council by-election, after the former councillor resigned her seat.
Adam Marshall will stand for the council seat in the Fletton and Woodston ward, with the by-election to be held on July 16.
It comes after Labour councillor Daisy Blakemore-Creedon resigned her role in May, claiming she didn't feel comfortable with the council system.
She had already quit the local Labour party in 2025 after alleging she "sustained bullying and marginalisation within the group".
Ms Blakemore-Creedon was just 18 when she was elected to Peterborough City Council in the May 2024 elections.
Mr Marshall said: "Residents in Fletton and Woodston are desperate for change, solutions to local problems, and a committed representative on Peterborough City Council.
"People feel abandoned and brushed under the carpet – that has to change.
"Whether it’s ongoing anti-social behaviour, the state of our local roads, or people in poverty – residents know what the issues are but for too long they have gone unaddressed.
"If elected, I will work to address these fundamental problems and restore pride in Fletton and Woodston – pressing for CCTV coverage of fly-tipping hotspots, fighting for our area to get it’s fair share of funding for roads after our Labour Government has doubled that, lobbying for more visible local policing, and much more."
Mr Marshall began community work at the age of 16, carrying out small projects in the area to raise funds for humanitarian work overseas.
He describes his approach as community-focused and says he wants to represent the ward with that same mindset.
So far, it has been announced that the Fletton and Woodston Green party candidate will be Katherine Sharp.
The nomination period for the by-election runs from June 12 to June 19.
The last date to register to vote in person is Tuesday, June 30.
The postal vote registration deadline is 5pm on Wednesday July 1 and the proxy vote registration deadline is 5pm on Wednesday July 8.
