Three schools have been praised for their commitment to helping students succeed beyond the classroom.

Cromwell Community College (Secondary), City of Peterborough Academy, and Ormiston Bushfield Academy have each earned Silver Awards from the Skills Builder Partnership for embedding essential life and work skills into their daily curriculum.

The national award recognises schools that prioritise teaching skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, and speaking, alongside academic subjects to support broader educational and career readiness.

Dr Michael Englard, UK CEO at Skills Builder Partnership, said: "Congratulations to Cromwell Community College (Secondary), City of Peterborough Academy, and Ormiston Bushfield Academy on their Skills Builder Silver Awards.

"It’s been a privilege working with them as they build essential skills into the work of their school.

"We know that higher levels of essential skills translate into a greater chance of finding better work as adults, and that by explicitly developing those skills and giving young people the opportunity to practice, Cromwell Community College (Secondary), City of Peterborough Academy, and Ormiston Bushfield Academy are helping to ensure that one day, everyone has the essential skills to succeed."

Cromwell Community College was recognised for its structured skill development programme, which includes two dedicated tutor sessions each week for students in Years 7 to 10, as well as tailored revision workshops for Year 11 students.

Progress is tracked digitally, and skills are integrated into enrichment activities, subject lessons, and school trips.

City of Peterborough Academy earned its award by embedding essential skills across Key Stage 3 and nurture groups, using school displays and digital screens to reinforce key messages.

Ormiston Bushfield Academy was commended for integrating the skills framework into its curriculum and policies, with a particular focus on Year 10 student progress.

Student self-reflection and peer reflection are used to track development, and achievements are celebrated in progress reports.
