A disqualified driver who led police on an "incredibly reckless" high-speed chase has been jailed.
Andrew Dunkley, 38, of Ellison Close, Cambridge, was sentenced to 22 months in prison at Peterborough Crown Court on August 19 after pleading guilty to dangerous driving.
He was also handed a three-year and 10-month driving ban.
DC Matthew Grace, who investigated the case, said: "Dunkley showed no regard for his previous conviction for dangerous driving, thinking he was above the law and could continue to drive despite not having a licence.
"His driving was incredibly reckless, and he will now have to deal with the consequences of his actions."
In the early hours of May 5, Dunkley was spotted on CCTV in a blue Peugeot 207 at Trumpington Park and Ride in Cambridge, where he was suspected of taking drugs.
When a police officer arrived and attempted to box in his vehicle, Dunkley sped off, leading officers on a chase through Trumpington.
He reached speeds of 80mph in a 40mph zone, ran a red light, and tried to reverse into the police car before abandoning the Peugeot on Hobson Avenue.
On July 3, officers saw Dunkley driving a black Vauxhall Astra at the Tesco Extra car park in Bar Hill.
He fled the scene but was arrested on July 7 after being found hiding in an abandoned caravan on Orchard Close in Little Wilbraham.
Dunkley was already serving a suspended sentence for dangerous driving following a conviction in April.
He also pleaded guilty to two counts each of disqualified driving and driving without insurance, for which no separate penalties were given.
