A drug-dealing disqualified driver has been jailed after trying to flee from police in a late-night chase.
Anton Oakley, 37, was sitting in a black Vauxhall Astra in Dogsthorpe, Peterborough, at around 11pm on June 19.
Officers became suspicious after seeing a woman approach and then walk away from the vehicle.
When officers turned on their blue lights, Oakley initially stopped but then sped off, driving dangerously before stopping outside Tilton Court and fleeing on foot.
He was arrested nearby following a short chase.
DC Joshua Crown said: "Oakley knew he was in the wrong, but his attempts to get away from officers were always going to be futile.
"It’s lucky nobody was injured during the short pursuit where he drove dangerously as he tried to evade arrest.
"I’m pleased he was apprehended and has now been jailed."
Police searched Oakley and found a mobile phone, £460 in cash and a small amount of crack cocaine hidden in his sock.
Analysis of his phone revealed content consistent with the supply of pregabalin, a class C drug.
Officers later searched a property in Dogsthorpe linked to Oakley and found a pair of nunchucks and a mace.
Oakley, of no fixed address, admitted supplying a class C drug, dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and uninsured, possessing offensive weapons in a private place and possessing crack cocaine.
At Cambridge Crown Court on September 14, Oakley was jailed for 17 months and banned from driving for two years and 262 days.
